Thomas Lantermann from Mitsubishi Electric presented on emulating manufacturing processes. Emulation involves defining a production process in 3D and controlling, managing, and optimizing it in advance using software. This allows companies to reduce start-up costs and time, increase quality from the beginning, find bottlenecks, and optimize energy usage and costs per part before real-world implementation. Lantermann demonstrated emulation software using a 3D model and programmable logic controller.
