Veterinarians study and treat animal diseases and injuries with medicine. Some veterinarians work in veterinary clinics caring for domestic pets. Others work in zoos caring for wild animals. Still others work on farms caring for domestic animals. Veterinarians use stethoscopes to listen to hearts, scalpels to open parts of the body, and gloves to avoid getting blood on their hands. Syringes are used to administer vaccines, and forceps are used to grab things inside animal stomachs.
