Empathize and define
1. • Say
I’ve decided to go to Italy on a paid practice.
6 months are enough. I don’t intend to stay
there. I hope I won’t change my mind on that.
I have to find a paid practice until November as I
have to move out from the campus, as I’m not
applying for a master degree.
If I’m not approved for the practice in Italy I will
search for a job instead.
I was invited for an interview 3 weeks ago for
another practice. But it came out that it is not
paid so I refused the offer. I told them there is
no way to work for no money.
A lot of my colleagues started working in the 2nd
or the 3rd year at the university.
It is very difficult for some of them – they are
sending CVs, but no one invites them even to
an interview.
Up till now all of them have succeeded more or
less.
The more experience you have, the better.
PR agencies will rather choose someone
younger than a 23 old PR, freshly graduated
who is looking for a job for a first time. They
would say – what have you been doing 4 years
now and you haven’t found a job yet?
They pay them some commission, but it’s not
much.
I would love to work for WWF, but I don’t have
time to start working for them as I have to write
my thesis.
I don’t speak Italian, but I will learn it quickly,
I’m good at languages.
When I go there I’ll learn it for sure.
In Rome there is a lot of work (jobs) and I have a
friend there who studies in a university.
If I enroll a master degree at home, I’ll look for a
job. I’ll look for a paid practice, in order to have
chance to take part in Erasmus exchange
program.
If I don’t find a paid practice, I’ll find a job and I
won’t go anywhere via Erasmus.
I will have to pay a rent for an apartment from
now on and I have to become more serious and
not to change practices in a 3-month period.
I have a lot of friends in Italy, and if I go there I
can have some support if I need to.
2. Mind Map
• Think
She thinks that gathering experience in
another country is a challenge worth
trying.
She doesn’t need too much time to
experience what she wants.
She thinks a paid practice/job is the only
way she can go ahead no matter where.
She thinks it’s good that she has already
some experience.
She thinks the Italian language won’t be
an obstacle for her.
Writing a thesis is not compatible with
working.
Finding a permanent job is more
important than participating in exchange
program.
• Feel
o She feels that this is something she has to
try.
o She worries about her financial stability.
o She feels that going abroad for a while is a
very good opportunity one shouldn’t miss.

status.
o It seems she doesn’t like to make hasty
steps.
o She feels positive.
3. A young clever, pragmatic, cautious, but curious woman, finishing her
bachelor degree in Public Relations and looking for career opportunities
NEEDS A WAY TO
Reframe her priorities in order to find non obvious ways to use the best
opportunities
BECAUSE
this will reflect her experience, her career path, her financial stability and most
probably her life as a whole.
