This document discusses research methods for evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. It recommends: 1) Forming a hypothesis about a training method and conducting pre-tests and post-tests to evaluate it. This can be done with one group over time or by comparing a test group that receives the training to a control group. 2) Gathering feedback through evaluations to assess how the training impacted learning, behavior change, and business metrics. Four levels of evaluation are identified. 3) Analyzing the results using statistical tests like a t-test to determine if the training caused the observed changes rather than random variation. The results should then be communicated and used to improve future training programs.
