Are you stuck in the Java world? I’ll share my story about convincing my team and the client of the benefits of Kotlin. Furthermore I’ll delve into how we migrated an existing Java Android app, with 300k active users, to Kotlin.
Even if you have never seen Kotlin before, come and see how you will create better apps with this modern and elegant language. At the end of this talk you’ll be able to convince your team / client why it’s a great to use Kotlin.
The power of Kotlin can be leveraged everywhere you use Java, since it compiles to JVM bytecode. So even if you’re not an Android developer, check out this session to get acquainted with Kotlin!
No excuses: switch to Kotlin
FrontendLab: Programming UI with FRP and Bacon js - Вячеслав ВорончукGeeksLab Odessa
This document discusses programming user interfaces with functional reactive programming (FRP) and the Bacon.js library. It introduces FRP concepts like sources of data, events, side effects, and switching. It then discusses Bacon.js and other Javascript FRP frameworks like Elm, Flapjax, Javelin, and RxJS. The document explains how FRP helps with issues like callback spaghetti and makes refactoring and adding new features easier. It provides examples using Bacon.js concepts like flatMap, buses, debugging, and AJAX search implementations.
1) The document describes how a Facebook spamware works by forcing users to install a malicious browser add-on. It extracts user IDs and authentication tokens to send spam messages to friends.
2) It uses the friend list API to get friend IDs and names, then loops through sending each a randomized spam message with a link.
3) The document provides tips on how to avoid this spamware, such as not installing unknown add-ons and verifying links with friends.
The document discusses C programming concepts like functions, arrays, and static variables. It includes code snippets showing how to define functions that take parameters and return values, as well as how to iterate through arrays using a for loop and the sizeof operator to determine the array size. The document seems to be notes for learning C programming basics like defining functions, using arrays, and understanding static variables.

Lightning Talk #9: How UX and Data Storytelling Can Shape Policy by Mika Aldabaux singapore
How can we take UX and Data Storytelling out of the tech context and use them to change the way government behaves?
Showcasing the truth is the highest goal of data storytelling. Because the design of a chart can affect the interpretation of data in a major way, one must wield visual tools with care and deliberation. Using quantitative facts to evoke an emotional response is best achieved with the combination of UX and data storytelling.
This document summarizes a study of CEO succession events among the largest 100 U.S. corporations between 2005-2015. The study analyzed executives who were passed over for the CEO role ("succession losers") and their subsequent careers. It found that 74% of passed over executives left their companies, with 30% eventually becoming CEOs elsewhere. However, companies led by succession losers saw average stock price declines of 13% over 3 years, compared to gains for companies whose CEO selections remained unchanged. The findings suggest that boards generally identify the most qualified CEO candidates, though differences between internal and external hires complicate comparisons.

The document discusses how personalization and dynamic content are becoming increasingly important on websites. It notes that 52% of marketers see content personalization as critical and 75% of consumers like it when brands personalize their content. However, personalization can create issues for search engine optimization as dynamic URLs and content are more difficult for search engines to index than static pages. The document provides tips for SEOs to help address these personalization and SEO challenges, such as using static URLs when possible and submitting accurate sitemaps.
