Between July 27th and August 12th, London hosted the 2012 Olympic Games, the third time the city has held the event. Athletes from over 200 countries competed in 302 events including swimming, cycling, gymnastics, and more with the addition of women's boxing. While most events took place in London, some like football and sailing occurred at other UK locations like the Isle of Portland. The Olympics cost around £10 billion to stage with ticket prices ranging from £20 to £2,000 and the Olympic torch traveled over 8,000 miles from Greece to London via runners of different nationalities passing it along the way.
