2. RULES
• This round will have 12 questions.
• Marking scheme is +10/0 for each question, unless mentioned otherwise in the
question. There are part points for some questions, which would be mentioned in the
question itself. Some questions will contain negative marking, which will be explicitly
mentioned in the question itself.
• After the Quiz Master (QM) finishes reading the question, you have a 60 second
window in which you have to tag the moderator in your respective WhatsApp group
and write the answer.
• The entire 12 question set will be displayed again for the teams, in which you have a
30 second window for each question in which you have to tag the moderator in
your respective WhatsApp group.
• Once the window closes, no answers will be accepted. Remember, answers are
accepted as long as the question is displayed on the screen.
• Some questions will be star-marked, which would be used as tie-breakers.
3. 1. After the First Anglo-Sikh War, the British East India Company and
Raja Gulab Singh of Jammu signed the Treaty of Amritsar, which
placed the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir under the British
Indian Empire's suzerainty. Gulab Singh was required to pay the
British Government 75 lakhs (7.5 million) in Nanak Shahi rupees (the
Sikh Empire's official currency), as well as other annual tributes. In
the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the Treaty of Amritsar marked the
beginning of Dogra authority. To further humiliate him, the British
government demanded that he furnish them with "one horse, twelve
shawl goats of approved breed (six male and six female) and three

5. 2. X is a famous Bridge in Indian territory. It has two living
natural corals formed just like a bridge. The rock formation

Lord Vishnu avatar, in the last second of the four Yugas. X is
also the name of a major character in one of India's most

9. 4. In Hindu tradition, deity X is always evoked at a Yagna. It
is said that unless an offering has been made to X, the other
gods will not accept any offerings. X’s body is composed of
the 4 Vedas, and is often associated with “ghee” (clarified

11. 5*. X is one of Bollywood's classic songs, the movie in which
it was featured was based on a social evil which was a
common norm in pre-independent India and is still practiced
in certain parts of northern India. The song is an expression
of the male protagonist’s feelings for his counterpart as she
would be leaving him as per the norm under the common
practice. Coincidentally X is also the name of a famous
Indian TV daily soap that aired back in 2011. Identify X and

16. 7. Dr. X, Ph.D. is a well-known astrophysicist who was born in
New Delhi, India. He discovered a celestial object at an early
age, which aroused his interest in astrophysics. After leaving
India, he proceeded to Cambridge University in England to
further his education. He has worked closely with Nobel
Laureates on multiple occasions, assisting them in their
studies. For his finding of a planetary object outside the
Kuiper belt in 2008, he became popular. Determine the
identity of this well-known astrophysicist.
18. 8. X is a literature piece written by Y. X, in spite of being
very popular doesn’t find a mention as one of the best works
of Y. X has life lessons told through a series of stories
featuring different characters in a very different style. Y’s
most celebrated (popular) works relate to how a state should
conduct itself. Identify X and Y. (5 points each for X and Y).
20. 9. The following photograph was recently in the news. The
brothers, separated because of partition, met each other
after 74 years. It also perfectly depicts a phrase X which is
used in similar situations of people uniting after a
separation. Identify the famous phrase.

22. 10. King Bhagiratha was alarmed to learn that 60,000 of King
Sagara's forefathers had been killed by the Vedic sage
Kapila's gaze. Bhagiratha wanted these forefathers to get to
paradise, so he asked Kapila how he could do it. For a
thousand years, they prayed hard to Vishnu and performed
ascetic actions. Satisfied with Bhagiratha's piety, the great
deity agreed for X to descend to earth, purify them, and
allow them to go to heaven.
However, in Bihar in the late 1970s, this purification
technique resulted in abnormalities in the "purified." The
"purified" were also compensated by the Supreme Court. In
this purifying procedure, the local police were really helpful.

irrespective of race, gender, sect, caste, or creed, where they
can peacefully live and express their spirituality, arts, and
culture free from denigration, interference and violence,”. Y
named this country after the abode of one of the Trimurtis
in Indian Mythology. Identify X and Y.
