Sumant Moolgankar was an engineer from Imperial College London who pioneered cement machinery manufacturing in India during World War 2. He later served in advisory roles to the Indian government and helped establish engineering divisions at TELCO (now Tata Motors). In 1995, Tata Motors named their car "Tata Sumo" in tribute to Moolgankar, deriving the name from parts of his name. The document discusses Moolgankar's contributions to developing India's industrial capabilities.
