THE FASCINATING HISTORY OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING
Electrical Engineering – 2500 years in the making
This 30 foot tall mural was completed for the 1937 World’s Fair in
Paris. It is now housed in the Paris Museum of Modern Art. It depicts
the history and mythology of electricity.
Over 100 hundred scientists who developed our understanding of
electricity are represented, starting from the left. ECE students
become familiar with many of these names, including:
Faraday, Coulomb, Maxwell, Lorentz
Hertz, Kelvin, Ampere, Watt, Ohm
Joule, Volta, Fourier, Laplace, Huygens
Leibniz, Newton, Marconi, Edison
