The city council of Honolulu passed a resolution urging the governor to conduct an investigation into problems with the 2012 general election. The resolution noted that some polling places experienced ballot shortages, resulting in long wait times for voters and some people leaving without voting. An investigation is needed to ensure public confidence in election fairness and identify why the office of elections was poorly prepared and responded inadequately. The resolution requests that findings from such an investigation be reported to relevant government bodies and officials.
