Joseph G. Smith gave a presentation on effective church leadership for the 21st century. He emphasized that church leaders must focus on advancing the mission of making disciples. Five essential ingredients for leadership were identified: vision, industry, perseverance, service, and discipline. Leaders need a vision for change, must work hard to implement their vision, persevere despite opposition, serve others humbly, and maintain spiritual discipline. The presentation highlighted that Seventh-day Adventists were called to fulfill God's end-time mission as revealed in prophecy. Effective leadership is needed to keep the church focused on its purpose.
