'Leadership', 'management' and other sorry excuses for treating people like crapmore like people
The document discusses alternative views of leadership and management that move away from traditional hierarchical models. It argues that leadership is not an inherent quality but can be learned. Effective organizations encourage self-organization, shared meaning, autonomy, and risk-taking rather than relying on experts, strategies, or carrots and sticks. Complex systems thrive on flexibility, trust, diversity, communication, and reflection rather than control. True leadership involves hosting rather than heroics and creating the conditions for people to determine their own actions.
This document discusses using data and technology to promote social change. It introduces Healthy City, a project that combines research, community voices, and web tools to address social inequities. Healthy City's online mapping technology and community research lab help community groups conduct action-oriented research. The document then gives an example of how this data could help a teacher identify developmental delays in a student and connect him with local screening resources. It shows how socioeconomic factors and service availability vary between communities and emphasizes the importance of weaving data into stories to engage stakeholders in social issues.
1) The student had previous practice cutting wood panels and pieces for their design technology lesson, making the tasks of measuring, marking, and cutting the wood easy and familiar.
2) They used common woodworking tools like a G-clamp, tenon saw, and pull saw to securely hold and cut the wood panels to the correct measurements.
3) While most cuts were straight, a few needed sanding later to smooth imperfections, but the student finished cutting all required panels for the lesson in preparation for sanding and further work in the next lesson.
(A Study of the Book of Ruth) - There are many valuable lessons to be gleaned from this beautiful book. This book is very practical, beneficial and encouraging. This lesson examines many of these lessons and then focusses on the concept of redemption. Boaz “the kinsman redeemer” is a fitting “type” of Christ. Ruth, a Gentile believer redeemed by Boaz, is a fitting “type” of the church.
