Georgia College, the state's designated Public Liberal Arts University,

2. SEMESTER AT SEA PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS
The Semester at Sea Presidential Scholars program was developed to identify
and support extremely high-achieving students wishing to enhance their global
perspective and better understand their vital role as a global citizen. These
students are expected to understand and further the mission of ISE before,
during, and after their participation in the program.
In return for their commitment to the program, presidential scholars receive up to full scholarships
toward tuition, room, and board for spring and fall semester voyages. Presidential Scholarships
Available for Fall 2013 Voyage. Voyage offer 12-15 credits from the University of Virginia and
travels to 15 cities in 14 countries. The voyage begins on August 24th, 2013 and ends on December
16th, 2013 (115 days long).

SCHOLARSHIPS
Oregon State welcomes a diverse student body of over 26,000 students
from across Oregon, all 50 states and more than 100 countries. They can
choose from more than 200 undergraduate and more than 80 graduate
degree programs,including over 30 degrees online offered through Oregon
State Ecampus. Oregon State increasingly attracts high-achieving students,

PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES TO OFFER FREE ONLINE CLASSES FOR
CREDIT
In an unusual arrangement with a commercial company, dozens of public
universities plan to offer an introductory online course free and for credit to anyone worldwide, in
the hope that those who pass will pay tuition to complete a degree program.
The universities — including Arizona State, the University of Cincinnati and the University of
Arkansas system — will choose which of their existing online courses to convert to a massive
open online course, or MOOC, in the new program, called MOOC2Degree.

TUFTS JOINS BERKELEY IN APPLICATION SURGE FROM FOREIGN
STUDENTS
At Tufts University, international applications climbed 12 percent from a
year ago and have more than doubled since 2004. The number of foreign students seeking
admission to the University of California, Berkeley jumped about 22 percent this year, while the
University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League member, reported a 38 percent increase since 2010.
“Having students from overseas just makes sense,” said Lee Coffin, dean of undergraduate
admission at Medford, Massachusetts-based Tufts. “If the American population is going to decline,
then the global population represents another source of high-quality students.”

Valentine's Day is celebrated in a very similar manner across the United
States, but it varies when it comes to other countries.
Valentine’s Day is the second-most celebrated holiday in the world, second only to New Year’s
Day, and is celebrated by many countries around the world.
“I’m used to the typical American style of Valentine’s Day. When you’re a kid, you made boxes in
elementary school and put Valentine’s in the boxes, now you send cards to your parents, or your
boyfriend,” said Michelle Hunter, senior in child, adult and family services.

OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE FOR INTERNATIONAL MBA GRADUATES
According to Bloomberg Businessweek, many international students who
graduate with a master’s degree in business administration (MBA)
successfully find work in the United States.
According to a 2012 survey, all F students at five responding business schools accepted
employment offers within three months of graduation. The 20 other responding schools reported at
least a 73 percent placement rate of their F student graduates.
