This document discusses the benefits of removing desks from the World Language classroom. It identifies three main problems with traditional desk arrangements: large class sizes, desks limiting space, and desks acting as barriers. Removing desks creates visibility, space, movement, community and engagement. Specific strategies are provided for arranging chairs, gaining students' attention without desks, allowing students to write without desks, and handling potential issues like students having more freedom without desks. Movement and review games that are easier to implement without desks are also suggested. Overall, the document argues removing desks from the classroom creates a better learning environment.
