Economic Development and It´s Impact in Ecosystem
During the last few decades, economic development has helped developing countries
to solve economic inequality and explore global business by the gradual use of their
technological or natural resources. Although this activity provides high income and
prosperity through short-sighted economical plans, however, these benefits can also bring
irreversible threats to human lives due to negative impacts on ecosystems. This consequence
is based on the combination of three correlated problems: overpopulation, the increased use
of natural resources, and economic inequality in developing countries.
Overpopulation is one of the biggest problems that are affecting the developing
countries. “Studies have consistently shown that rapid population growth represents a
massive threat to the environment at local, natural, and global levels” (Reading 1). Effective
control of population size is highly necessary. A considered reduction of birthrates will help
to relieve pressure on overpopulated countries, such China and India. As a result, their
populations would be directly benefited, just as they would be less dependent on
government economic plans.

Secondly, the control of the use of natural resources would help countries to develop
a robust long-sighted plan of their development rate. With increasing world consumption,
the volume of garbage has reached catastrophic levels and there are almost no spaces to
properly store these wastes. As solution, the fully application of high-tech on activities
involving natural resources could lead to reach exceptional levels of efficiency during goods
manufacturing to supply the population. In addition, the environment and future generation
will be also strongly benefited.
Finally, financial inequality in the world is one of the main causes for developing
countries dependence from financial help. Financial dependence does not allow them to
perform long-sighted improvement plan for their financial health. United nations could
provide investments to developing countries, as well as dispose support to guide on the
correct use of those investments. “The developed world, which includes the planet’s most
prosperous nations, has an obligation to respond to this crisis” (Reading 1). Incomes could
help poor countries to equalize their financials issues, provide internal development
opportunities, and give the country the opportunity to deal with the global scenery.

Economic development is highly necessary; however, we should be aware about the
consequences and know how to deal with them. The influence of economic development on
ecosystem is a global issue and countries need to work on this to build the future and help
the next generations.
