This document provides information about an ECHOES workshop on archiving 2019. It introduces Walther Hasselo and Olav Kwakman as contacts for the workshop. ECHOES is described as providing open access to digital cultural assets from different owners in several languages within a single, integrated platform. The workshop will include demos of the ECHOES presentation, analysis, transformation, and quality assurance tools, and discuss next steps like adding geo-coordinates and automatic enrichment.
4. What is ECHOES
ECHOES Workshop Archiving 2019
ECHOES provides an open, easy and innovative
access to digital cultural assets from different
owners and users and is available in several
languages.
Within a single and integrated platform, users
have access to a wide range of information on
archaeology, architecture, books, monuments,
people, photography etc. This can be explored
using different criteria: concepts, digital objects,
people, places and time. The platform can be
installed for a region or a theme.
The outcome is a nice and attractive visualization
whose objective is to make it easier for people to
find their regional heritage, awaken their curiosity
once they’ve found something and, hopefully,
inspire them to contribute with their own
knowledge.
8. ECHOES Analyze tool
ECHOES Workshop Archiving 2019
- Gives feedback on the data properties;
- Useful to get to know the contents of the
data especially if you didn’t create the
dataset;
- Gives the ability to determine the usefulness
of the data when you want to enrich.
Example: If there are no places in the
dataset, enrichment with coordinates is
impossible.

ECHOES Workshop Archiving 2019
- Adding geo-coordinates to your dataset they are not available
in you dataset in Quality Assurance. This will improve
visualization on the map;
- Automatic enrichment of your predefined metadata fields in the
optional module Enrich.
