Earle Nelson (1897-1928), known as the "Gorilla Man", was convicted of 22+ murders across the United States in the 1920s. He had a troubled childhood and was institutionalized multiple times for odd behavior. In the 1920s, he began killing women he met through newspaper ads, strangling them using his immense strength. He was finally caught in Canada in 1927 after being recognized, and was executed by hanging in 1928.
