Marianne Brandt was a German artist and designer known for her functional yet sculptural metalwork. She studied at the Bauhaus school in the 1920s where she designed simple yet innovative objects like a silver tea infuser in 1924. After leaving the Bauhaus, she created photomontages and continued designing metal objects that emphasized form following function. Her minimalist yet artistic approach to design was highly influential and she helped establish the Bauhaus style of functional modernism.
