a short story or novel, a drama is meant to
be performed by actors and actresses for
an audience. A drama is meant for
performance. Dramas are performed for
theaters, televisions, films and also on radio.
21. TRAGEDY
• A tragedy is a drama that ends unhappily for the
protagonist, opposite of the idea that heroes in
tragedies always die at the end.
• Common themes of tragic dramas include a disaster,
extreme pain, and the blows of death.
• Tragedy, being a drama, aims to arouse pity and fear
among the audience.
23. COMEDY
• In its simple definition, a comedy is a drama
that ends happily for the protagonist.
• This is exactly the opposite of a tragedy.
• In addition, the element of humor is one thing
that makes it distinct from that of the
tragedy.
25. TRAGICOMEDY
• This type of drama combines the characteristics of a comedy
and a tragedy. Despite of all the tragic events that had
happened, the story still ends happily for the protagonist.
• The remarkable thing about a tragicomedy is that it can
make you laugh and cry.
• A tragicomedy might be a serious drama combined with
funny moments that periodically lighten the mood, or a
drama that has a happy ending.
27. FARCE
• It is the play which has only funny elements
and no human values.
• Features exaggerated or absurd forms of
comedy.
• Overall funny and hilarious in nature.
• Main objective is to entertain the audience.
28. MELODRAMA
Melodrama is an exaggerated form of drama. The
melodrama is also referred to as sentimental
drama.
Dramatic work in which events, plot, and characters
are sensationalized to elicit strong emotional
reactions from the audience.
29. MUSICAL DRAMA
• This type of drama takes advantage of
the power of music. Instead of pure
dialogue and acting, the musical drama
(or musical play or simply musical) makes
use of dancing and singing to tell a story.

•Moreover, musicals have also started
dominating the televisions and film industry
in the early 21st century and one of the
most popular to ever hit the screen is the
three-part musical entitled “High School
Musical.”
33. CHARACTER
• Characters are people, animals, or even ideas
that are portrayed by the actors in a play or
drama.
• Characters are what make stories. Without them,
there is no story to tell, only a lot of scenery.
• The characters in a play/drama can generally be
divided into major characters and minor
characters, depending on how important they are
in the plot.
35. PROTAGONIST
• Protagonists are the main
characters, around which the whole
story of the drama/play revolves
• They are all vital and serve as the
center of the story.
36. ANTAGONIST
• Antagonists are characters who
actively oppose or hostile to
protagonists. They are the
principal source of conflict for the
leading characters
38. ROUNDED
Rounded characters can
be associated with
characters who are
complex. They can be
both likable and
unlikeable because they
have a diverse set of
attitudes, behaviors, and
beliefs.

Dynamic characters are

developing characters.
