Young Prince Einon
is dying. Only the
Great Dragon can help
him. But first the boy
has to say, ‘I won’t be
a cruel king. I’ll love
my people and be kind
to them.’ But Einon is
cruel, and everybody
in the country is
afraid. Now the
Dragon, good Sir
Bowen and the
peasants have to fight
in a great battle

 Sir Bowen, one of King Freyne’s Knights, is
teaching Prince Einon, the king's son, to fight with
the sword. Sir Bowen wants to make Einon a good
fighter
 Bowen also wants to teach Einon the Old Code
A set of rules that
taught Kings and
Knights to treat their
people (the
peasants) well and
to rule justly. The
idea of the Old Code
is taken from the
English medieval
Code of Chivalry
and the legendary
court of King Arthur
and the round table
Life was good when
Kings respected the
Old Code and
everybody was happy
Things changed:
Knights did not
respect it anymore
and peasants
became angry

The Old Code
A knight is sworn to valor.
His heart knows only virtue.
His blade defends the helpless.
His might upholds the weak.
His word speaks only truth.
His wrath undoes the wicked!
Dragonheart Teacher: Lilia5
Bowen says: I don’t like life now; everybody is angry. I
want you, boy, to remember the Old Code all
your life.
 Brok, one of the King Knights, appears and says:
We’re fighting the peasants and King Freyne
wants his son to come and watch. The peasants
are stupid. The king says they have to die!
 Bowen thinks it is not good to fight the peasants. He
hates Brok because he does not live by the Old Code.
He’s the King’s man
 Einon understands Bowen hates his father, too because he likes killing peasants
Einon says: When my father dies, I'll be king. And you’ll
be my man.
 Bowen looked at Einon with love in his eyes. He loved him
like a son
