3. Background
A new consolidated Griffin/Delbrook
Community Recreation Centre was identified
as a priority in the 2007 Indoor Recreation
Facility Plan. A subsequent planning exercise
identified Griffin as the preferred site for the
new facility. The capacity and constraints of
the site were reviewed and a decision was
made to include a swimming pool.

4. Background
In the fall of 2011, Professional Environmental
Recreation Consultants (PERC) held
meetings with various stakeholders to gather
input and reviewed relevant demographic and
participation data to determine if what was
recommended in 2007 remained valid.

5. The New Community Recreation
Centre will:
• Be a vibrant welcoming centre for the community
• Meet the needs of local neighbourhood
• Complement the regional recreation facilities in
North Vancouver
• Consolidate Griffin and Delbrook Centres

• Seniors Space – 1000 sq. ft.
• Dance/Martial Arts Space – 2800 sq. ft.
• Pre-School Program Space – 2000 sq. ft.
• Multipurpose Program and Meeting Space –7000 sq. ft.

• Swimming Pool – 6 lane 25 metre tank with Leisure Pool, Sauna, Steam Room and Whirlpool
