This document discusses different architectures for connecting smart devices like light bulbs to smartphones and the internet, including smartphone-centric, hub-centric, and cloud-centric architectures. It also discusses the competition between Google, Apple, and Amazon to establish their own ecosystems and platforms to organize connected home devices and lock customers into their gardens through services tied to devices like OnHub, Apple TV, Amazon Echo, and smart home devices that integrate with their platforms and APIs.

Create a secure home with a custom security app. Learn about important features, how to build an app, costs and expert tips for effective home security.
Energy Management with Disaster Intimation and Control using IoTIJEACS
In the area of digitization and automation, the life of
human being is getting simpler as almost everything is
automated. Nowadays humans have made internet an integral
part of their everyday life without which they are helpless.
Internet of things (IoT) gives a platform which allows different
devices to inter-connect, sense and control the things remotely
across a network infrastructure without any limitation to the
coverage area. In our proposed work, we stress on Wireless-
Home-Automation-System (WHAS) using IoT, it is a system uses
computers or smart phone to control basic home functions and
features automatically through internet from anywhere around
the world, an automated home is sometimes called a smart home.
The proposed system is able to monitor the entire things
connected to the internet and also to be maintaining the status of
individual devices for further action. We have built the home
automation with several devices and sensors, here sensor help to
monitor the device status and intimate the authorized person to
take particular action.
Ecofactor (http://www.ecofactor.com/) provides automated energy savings, comfort and control through energy efficiency, demand response and HVAC performance monitoring services. Ecofactor holds 26 issued US patents including one design patent regarding thermostat. In assessment of the commercial importance (e.g., potential commercial implementation or licensing potential), Ecofactor patents ranked second following Samsung Electronics among top 10 innovators in the smart home patent landscape research.

ANALYSING THE POTENTIAL OF BLE TO SUPPORT DYNAMIC BROADCASTING SCENARIOSijasuc
In this paper, we present a novel approach for broadcasting information based on a Bluetooth Low Energy
(BLE) ibeacon technology. We propose a dynamic method that uses a combination of Wi-Fi and BLE
technology where every technology plays a part in a user discovery and broadcasting process. In such
system, a specific ibeacon device broadcasts the information when a user is in proximity. Using
experiments, we conduct a scenario where the system discovers users, disseminates information, and later
we use collected data to examine the system performance and capability. The results show that our
proposed approach has a promising potential to become a powerful tool in the discovery and broadcasting
concept that can be easily implemented and used in business environments.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
Synthetic Fiber Construction in lab .pptxPavel ( NSTU)
Synthetic fiber production is a fascinating and complex field that blends chemistry, engineering, and environmental science. By understanding these aspects, students can gain a comprehensive view of synthetic fiber production, its impact on society and the environment, and the potential for future innovations. Synthetic fibers play a crucial role in modern society, impacting various aspects of daily life, industry, and the environment. ynthetic fibers are integral to modern life, offering a range of benefits from cost-effectiveness and versatility to innovative applications and performance characteristics. While they pose environmental challenges, ongoing research and development aim to create more sustainable and eco-friendly alternatives. Understanding the importance of synthetic fibers helps in appreciating their role in the economy, industry, and daily life, while also emphasizing the need for sustainable practices and innovation.

10. 1. Smartphone Centric Architecture (with or without cloud)
In smartphone-centric architecture a light bulb is connected directly to a smartphone via Bluetooth. Thus
the light bulb doesn’t have a direct link to the Internet and depends on the proximity of the smartphone.
11. 2. Hub-centric Architecture (with or without cloud)
The Hub in hub-centric architecture is working as an intermediary for
connecting a bulb to the smartphone and to the Internet, since it usually
connects to the home Wi-Fi or Ethernet network. A smart lightbulb is totally
independent of a smartphone and could be smart on it’s own.
12. 3.Cloud Centric Architecture (without hub)
We have a smart device that is directly connected to the home Wi-Fi network
and doesn’t need any additional hub to work.
13. Smart Home Ecosystem Wars:
Android Brillo + Weave vs HomeKit
vs Amazon Echo
There is a constant battle of ecosystem platforms designed to organize and connect our
home appliances. Such a platform is a necessary and required step before we can
invent and build more services on top of the connected smart home devices.
Google and Apple are moving towards the Hub centric architecture with OnHub and
Apple TV respectively. They both also have their own infrastructure ecosystems (Brillo +
Weave from Google and HomeKit from Apple) that are aiming to keep customers
locked within their walled gardens. Such an approach will allow Google and Apple to
have full control over your home, know everything about you and your family and
provide added services to you for an additional cost. This will be a good scenario with a
recurring business model for them.
14. Amazon is also trying to build the
same ecosystem with Amazon Echo
and a fleet of third party connected
hardware appliance. Eventually the
result will be the same locked
ecosystem for the consumer in which
she can use content and services and
buy her household products from
Amazon. Another great concept from
Amazon, which is currently tested
only with its Prime Members, is the
Amazon Dash buttons that allow
users to buy products with literally
one click of a button that is attached
to a wall in the kitchen or bathroom.
15. Amazon released the Lightning API
for the Amazon Echo, which lets
customers control lights and switches
by speaking a command. If you are a
smart light bulb developer you can
benefit from such integration, which
increases interoperability and gives a
customer more options when using
the device.
