DISNEY DOES DATA: Data management implications of using animated video as tra...Louise Patterton
ABSTRACT The Network of Data and Information Curation Communities (NeDICC) created an animated video as study material for librarians attending RDM workshops. It was thought that the concept of a YouTube-uploaded animated video as training tool would provide a refreshing, unconventional and humorous mode of teaching concerning a subject area currently not understood my many librarians. Taking into account ease of use, affordability, customization options as well as proven track record, GoAnimate was chosen as video platform.
Data product implications for creators/curators of the video were numerous, and include intellectual property rights, sharing intent, format and restrictions, mobile device issues, preservation formats, conversion tools, and storage and backup locations. Speed of video technology evolvement, the benefits of a data management plan for the smallest of research outputs, the need for familiarization with ownership issues and IP rights when making use of web-based animation, and the omnipresent threat of format obsolescence as well as the possible future limitations of proprietary software, are some of the learnings gained.

The document proposes an image enhancement technique to aid the visually impaired. It aims to first apply various algorithms like zooming and contrast adjustment to individual images using OpenCV, then extend this approach to videos by generating images from video frames and applying the image processing technique. While initial results on images showed improvement, applying it to videos in real-time proved challenging as video clarity was not achieved and the process time could not be reduced sufficiently. Future work focuses on developing a low-cost Android application that can interface with a camera and perform real-time video enhancement.

Instead of feeling threatened by the steady proliferation of proprietary corporate events, organizers of shows with 125,000-plus net square feet of exhibit space can profit from the trend.
That’s the message executives and managers heard at the Large Show Roundtable (LSR), June 30, 2016, in Orlando, FL. Dan Hilbert, senior vice president, Global Experience Specialists (GES), delivered the keynote address - "Making Friends: How Large Shows Can Complement Proprietary Events."
He covered these key topics:
- Lessons large show organizers can learn from corporate events.
- Anchor exhibitors’ expectations from large shows and their own events.
- How large shows can collaborate with corporate events.
- Why companies are increasingly leaving large shows to create their own events.
“Dan has more than 25 years of experience in the event, agency and entertainment business,” observed Sam Lippman, president of Lippman Connects. “He has a deep understanding of what it takes to make experiential marketing programs effective.” Lippman Connects produces the Large Show Roundtable.

The document provides guidance on creating graphics for an upcoming show within the client's brand guidelines. It discusses key considerations like file format, resolution, fonts and colors to ensure the graphics properly represent the brand and are ready for print. Quality control is important to avoid issues like low resolution or pixelation that could damage the brand's reputation at the show. Common file types like PDF, EPS and TIFF are preferred over JPEG. PMS colors, fonts and linked images should be included along with the final art at 100% scale or accurate aspect ratio and resolution.

GES created two interactive presentations incorporating videos, text, and graphics that allowed attendees to navigate non-linearly [1]. GES also used Smartleads technology to electronically capture attendee interactions, providing Biogen measurable feedback [2]. The presentations could be easily updated, keeping costs low and allowing Biogen to reformat them for future events [3].

https://www.productmanagementtoday.com/frs/26903918/understanding-user-needs-and-satisfying-them
We know we want to create products which our customers find to be valuable. Whether we label it as customer-centric or product-led depends on how long we've been doing product management. There are three challenges we face when doing this. The obvious challenge is figuring out what our users need; the non-obvious challenges are in creating a shared understanding of those needs and in sensing if what we're doing is meeting those needs.
In this webinar, we won't focus on the research methods for discovering user-needs. We will focus on synthesis of the needs we discover, communication and alignment tools, and how we operationalize addressing those needs.
Industry expert Scott Sehlhorst will:
• Introduce a taxonomy for user goals with real world examples
• Present the Onion Diagram, a tool for contextualizing task-level goals
• Illustrate how customer journey maps capture activity-level and task-level goals
• Demonstrate the best approach to selection and prioritization of user-goals to address
• Highlight the crucial benchmarks, observable changes, in ensuring fulfillment of customer needs
