The document provides information on various mission opportunities for students over the summer of 2008 in different countries. Some of the opportunities mentioned include joining a team in Mozambique to teach and disciple young people, taking a team to teach English and the Bible in Kazakhstan while the country is still open to the gospel, forming a football team in China to share the good news, and leading a Bible camp in Moldova where most attendees are non-Christians. The document also discusses opportunities for outreach through summer camps in the UK and among international students studying in the UK. It encourages readers to use their summer to glorify God in whatever they do.

2. MISSION OVERSEAS
MOZAMBIQUE
Be part of the first Platt overseas student mission team
in recent years. We’ll be joining with Mission Partners
Steven and Jo Wheatley to teach and disciple young
people in local hostels, and perhaps to get involved in
some practical projects too. It all depends on the team’s
giftings... so get involved, and shape the mission!
KAZAKHSTAN
This is the seventh largest country in the world, yet it is
virtually unknown (except by one spoof film). Unlike most of
central Asia, Kazakhstan is still open to the Gospel, but,
given the religious climate in the region, this could change
within a few months or years. UCCF has been invited to
take a team to teach English and the Bible. Share the good
news in Kazakhstan this summer while it’s still possible!
CHINA
In this Olympic year, the world is congregating in China,
already one of the most populous countries on earth, with the
persecuted church growing at an astounding rate. The Uni of
Manchester’s CU is forming a football team as a means of
sharing the good news of Jesus with other footballers in the
country. Are you ready to sweat for the Gospel?
MOLDOVA
Imagine a student Bible camp where two thirds are non-
Christians. That’s the reality every year in Moldova, where
UCCF teams join local staff workers to teach English and lead
Bible studies. Westernisation will soon hit this country, where
university students’ hunger for Jesus is acute. Will you go
and feed them with God’s word this summer, before their
appetites are dulled by selfish materialism?
3. MISSION IN THE UK
VENTURE CAMPS
You don’t have to travel thousands of miles to find
people who will perish without the Gospel. Just walk
outside and look around you. Men, women, young people
and children. So why not get involved in reaching some
of them this summer through holiday camps and beach
missions? You might even enjoy yourself!
INTL STUDENT OUTREACH
Some travel thousands of miles to the UK to study, often
among the brightest and best hopes for future leaders in
business and politics in their home countries. Both on our
campuses in term-time and elsewhere during vacations, we
have the opportunity to reach these students with the good
news and love of Jesus. Do you remember how it felt to be
homesick? This is not a biblical hit-and-run, but a chance to get
stuck in and befriend students in Oxford, Edinburgh or London.
WHATEVER YOU DO...
...don’t waste your summer! Paul exhorts the Corinthians
to ‘do all to the glory of God’. Whether hanging out with
friends and family, stacking shelves in Sainsbury’s or doing
an internship at a top firm, make it count for the glory of
God. Be constantly prayerful; exalt Christ in creativity and
industry; use your earnings in a wise and godly way ... in
short, live and speak for Jesus.
