2014 Industry Trends
Shared-Drive Clean Up - Organizations are recognizing the
drain on productivity and risk inherent in using shared drives for
Document Management.
SharePoint Solidifies as ECM Front End - The industry
has realized that SharePoint provides a DM front end that needs to be
supplemented by "real" ECM on the backend.
The Cloud isn't Just an Option - In a repeat of the BYOD
movement, users have cloud and IT/Compliance are playing catch-up to
protect company assets from ending up on consumer cloud offerings.

The #1 Information Management Problem
"The practitioners in our industry do not
understand how to communicate to leadership to
get funding and support for their initiatives
because they don't articulate how information
management impacts the business and delivers
value"
An Inconvenient Truth
No executive wants information management —
they want to solve the business problems that
better information management can solve and
achieve the business objectives it can help them
achieve.

Editor's Notes

  • #8 Manufacturers today need to be able to quickly shift production between plants to benefit from regional cost arbitrage. If processes aren’t documented, moving a product from one plant to another is time consuming and expensive—as well as risky. Propagating and enforcing HS&E SOPs globally using a robust document management platform lays the foundation for moving product production processes between plant locations while maintaining HS&E standards and mitigating risk.
