Your annotated bibliography will have three parts:
1) The introduction (300-500 words) explains your research process and how you developed your list of sources (why these sources and not others?). You should review at least ten to twelve sources before deciding which ones will be most useful for your paper. In your introduction, you should summarize not only the process of your research but also how the research informed your perspective and led you to the thesis of your research paper.
2) Complete publication information in standard MLA format. This citation is exactly the same information that will appear on the Works Cited page, included at the end of your paper. You should include a minimum of four sources, and I recommend looking at more than this required number of sources before you decide which four you will include in your annotated bibliography.
3) An evaluative summary of each work listed. This immediately follows the bibliographic citation for the source, and it has two parts. First, describe the source: What is it? Who wrote it? What is its main point? Why was it written? Second, evaluate the work in relation to your analysis. How does it apply to your research paper’s thesis? You should paraphrase specific points, and you might consider brief quotations as they are relevant to establishing the connection between the sources and your ideas. You may include your own opinions and ideas as long as they reflect a solid
understanding of the reading material. For example, if you write about the presidency of
Thomas Jefferson, feel free to include your opinion as to how his ideas made the country

factual information that you have utilized to support your thesis and main ideas.
Your ideas must be supported by information from your sources since you are using these

2. Objectives & Intended Outcomes
Choose a good subject that you are interested in, that is debatable, controversial, and for which you can
find good credible sources. Take a position and make a strong argument for your position, supported by
really strong sources. See my list of Suggested Topics on pages 3-4 below. Your P3-ARG topic must be in a
totally different area from your P2-C/E essay.
Make sure that you integrate your research (books, scholarly articles, & other sources) with your own ideas,
judgments, and evaluations. I need to hear your voice, your argument, supported by your sources and
research. This is the most difficult part of good academic writing – spend time on getting this right.
A research paper is neither (1) your own ideas unsupported by scholarly research, nor (2) a list of other
people’s views & quotations. Between those extremes, I expect your argument supported by the sources
that you have chosen. Use both sources that support your argument, and sources that count against your
argument.
Work hard to base the paper on adequate library material (articles & books) and make sure that you write it
in non-technical language. Jargon which you find, for example, in your scholarly journal articles, need to be
carefully defined and explained where necessary. Write for a student like yourself: he or she is your ideal
audience. Writers always write for a particular audience.
You should use standard scholarly practice for documentation and citation – see Research & Sources

Infosys Technologies’ effort to convert each employee’s knowledge into an organizational asset started in the early 1990s and extended well into the first decade of the 2000s.
In the early 1990s, Infosys launched its
bodies of knowledge (BOK)
initiative, which involved encouraging employees to provide written accounts of their experiences across various topics, such as technologies, software development, and living abroad. After reading this weeks chapter, collective bargaining is essentially a negotiation and comprised of four parts, identifying the issues, researching, strategizing and setting ground rules. (Seaquist, 2015) In my opinion of the one step that would be most important would be the identifying the issues. You need a clear cut idea of what the issues are and where you plan to go with all of this "Since the end product of collective bargaining is the actual agreement, it is essential to first identify what collective bargaining should accomplish. This is referred to as identifying the issues.". Without clarity you could be arguing for nothing and that is where you will wind up and no resolution to anything. Identify what is wanted and /or wrong and then as they say do the research to know where you are going with this. As I stated before, without this step, things would become primarily useless as there is no guidance as to what the main issues are. Such as in this article it describes Mandatory Bargaining Issues as "An employer doesn't have to bargain over every conceivable employment issues. However, employers must bargain with the union over issues that are central to the employment relationship, such as wages, hours, and layoff procedures. Employers must give the union advance notice of any proposed workplace changes that involve these issues, if the union requests it. An employer who refuses to bargain or takes unilateral action in one of these mandatory bargaining areas commits an unfair labor practice."(Guerin, L.2015).

The purpose of this assignment is to choose three important people or events in American
history through the readings of weeks 1-4 (writing assignment 1) or weeks 5-8 (writing
assignment 2.) You have some flexibility with this assignment. For example, you can
write about three important acts that the British imposed which caused the colonists to
seek independence against the mother country. Or, you could write about three important
events during the presidency of Thomas Jefferson. Contact your instructor if you need
guidance regarding a topic.
The assignment asks you to find a minimum of two academically credible sources (one
may be your textbook), develop a clear, focused thesis statement, and to support your
thesis with clear, insightful, consistent writing. This assignment will enhance your
research and writing skills, both of which are applicable not only to this course but to
many different careers.
You may include your own opinions and ideas as long as they reflect a solid
understanding of the reading material. For example, if you write about the presidency of
Thomas Jefferson, feel free to include your opinion as to how his ideas made the country
stronger, freer, or more prosperous, but your primary focus should be an analysis of the
factual information that you have utilized to support your thesis and main ideas.
Your ideas must be supported by information from your sources since you are using these
sources to prove your thesis. After all, the purpose of a research paper is to make a case
and to convince the reader that your writing and research supports your thesis. Whether
you quote information directly from your sources, or paraphrase, you must cite your

2. Objectives & Intended Outcomes
Choose a good subject that you are interested in, that is debatable, controversial, and for which you can
find good credible sources. Take a position and make a strong argument for your position, supported by
really strong sources. See my list of Suggested Topics on pages 3-4 below. Your P3-ARG topic must be in a
totally different area from your P2-C/E essay.
Make sure that you integrate your research (books, scholarly articles, & other sources) with your own ideas,
judgments, and evaluations. I need to hear your voice, your argument, supported by your sources and
research. This is the most difficult part of good academic writing – spend time on getting this right.
A research paper is neither (1) your own ideas unsupported by scholarly research, nor (2) a list of other
people’s views & quotations. Between those extremes, I expect your argument supported by the sources
that you have chosen. Use both sources that support your argument, and sources that count against your
argument.
Work hard to base the paper on adequate library material (articles & books) and make sure that you write it
in non-technical language. Jargon which you find, for example, in your scholarly journal articles, need to be
carefully defined and explained where necessary. Write for a student like yourself: he or she is your ideal
audience. Writers always write for a particular audience.
You should use standard scholarly practice for documentation and citation – see Research & Sources

Infosys Technologies’ effort to convert each employee’s knowledge into an organizational asset started in the early 1990s and extended well into the first decade of the 2000s.
In the early 1990s, Infosys launched its
bodies of knowledge (BOK)
initiative, which involved encouraging employees to provide written accounts of their experiences across various topics, such as technologies, software development, and living abroad. These experiences were then shared in hard-copy form with all other employees. This early effort ballooned into a full-fledged KM effort supported by e-mail, bulletin boards, and various knowledge repositories. In 1996, a corporate intranet was developed to make BOKs, in HTML format, easily accessible to all. In 1999, Infosys began an organization-wide program to integrate the various knowledge initiatives. knowledge portal
was created, called KShop, and although the KM group developed the technology infrastructure, local groups were encouraged to maintain their own content on KShop.

After reading this weeks chapter, collective bargaining is essentially a negotiation and comprised of four parts, identifying the issues, researching, strategizing and setting ground rules. (Seaquist, 2015) In my opinion of the one step that would be most important would be the identifying the issues. You need a clear cut idea of what the issues are and where you plan to go with all of this "Since the end product of collective bargaining is the actual agreement, it is essential to first identify what collective bargaining should accomplish. This is referred to as identifying the issues.". Without clarity you could be arguing for nothing and that is where you will wind up and no resolution to anything. Identify what is wanted and /or wrong and then as they say do the research to know where you are going with this. As I stated before, without this step, things would become primarily useless as there is no guidance as to what the main issues are. Such as in this article it describes Mandatory Bargaining Issues as "An employer doesn't have to bargain over every conceivable employment issues. However, employers must bargain with the union over issues that are central to the employment relationship, such as wages, hours, and layoff procedures. Employers must give the union advance notice of any proposed workplace changes that involve these issues, if the union requests it. An employer who refuses to bargain or takes unilateral action in one of these mandatory bargaining areas commits an unfair labor practice."(Guerin, L.2015).

All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
