This is a due diligence directory of Canadian US patents holders. It has the latest information about who has US patents in Canada, where the US patent holders are, what they patented in the US market and the trends of their US patents. In 2009, when I was working for the Region of Peel government, Canada, I successfully used patent mapping to identify 20 US patent intensive companies as the potential employers for highly educated immigrants. Following this initiative, I created a Canadian patent competitive intelligence (CI) database to track the latest patent competence of Canadian entities, in all sector throughout Canada, on a weekly basis. There has been the information of 6,000+ Canadian companies in this information repository now. My work with Region of Peel from 2010 to 2012 showed that this database can provide the "no-older-than-7-day" intelligence for long-term strategic research/planning and short-term tactics. This is also the first attempt in Canada to use patent landscape as a regional economic strength indicator and a baseline for policy harmonization and policy performance evaluation.

1922- Better Homes and Gardens Magazine was established. It is now the 4th best selling magazine in America. Jan 1929- Sunset Magazine underwent a makeover and began focusing on “the whole range of home-life and family interests with timely and practical suggestions on gardening, building, home-decorating and furnishing, cooking and home management, traveling, enjoying outdoor life”1957 example of a DIY magazine, focusing on home improvement. 1969- Whole Earth Catalog, which listed a variety of useful tools as well as books and classes for people interested in a variety of projects such as home improvement and landscaping and other things. It was referred to by Steve Jobs as the Google of his generation- in paperback form. And was updated regularly until 1994.
1979- This Old House Television series began. In the show, owners of old houses would work with the hosts and their crews to renovate an old house. It was a very succesful show, winning 17 Emmy awards.1994- HGTV channel started up. It is a cable channel that featured shows focusing on the ways to improve the home and garden.1999- DIY Network was established by the same people who owned HGTV. Its shows focused on a variety of DIY ares such as: auto- and motorcycle repair, jewelry making, quilting, scrapbooking, video production, and woodworking.
Renovations: bathrooms, kitchens, basements, gardens.Strawhouses, house trucks, miniture houses.
