3. Lighting is used for a lot of things, to
reflect the characters in a particular
way. In the beginning of the trailer, the
mood is bright, whereas when the
tension builds up the mood gets darker.
The mid-shot to the right shows the two
characters lit in high key lighting.
However, the serial killer is
darkly lit because of the
character he is playing which
is lit using low key lighting,
such as the long shot on the
left.

4. The genre (thriller) conveyed as
at the beginning of the
trailer, there are little hints of
comedy. For example two young
teenagers are caught spying on
a girl, and their reaction to it is
amusing, as shown in the mid-
shot and close up .
How ever, its actual genre is shown as the tone
of the in the trailer darkens, for example the
shot bellow the lighting fades, and the music
gets slower and dramatic, and blood has been
smothered on the window which suggests
murder.

5. The narrative of the trailer disturbia is
that Kale who is a teenage boy played
by (Shia le bouf) ,and the main hero in
the film gets in trouble with the police
which eventually makes him have a
tag. He was put under house arrest
and the audience knows this as in the
trailer there is a close up (to your left) of
the tag being put on his foot in the
beginning of the trailer. The tag is
shown in three close ups which
emphasizes the fact that he is a bit of
a ‘bad boy’ this mostly appeals to a
teenage audience ,as it creates a bit
of excitement. It has a picture of a skull
on it which adds enigma which make
the audience think why he has
something that resembles death on the
tag; this brings up various connotations
such as death.

6. The mise en scene in this film trailer is just a typical normal
everyday mise en scene, for example the lighting was just average
day lighting but as the horror undid its self within the trailer the
lighting became more dark and mysterious, this started happening
just seconds after the trailer started , which then started to speed
up which caused tension. The enemies costume is dark which is a
typical convention in horror films as the enemy is always dressed in
dark costume as the connotations of this are that they are
mysterious and have something to hide. There is a major prop used
in this trailer which is a pair of binoculars, these are important and
are shown in many shots because they are the reason Kale is able
to spy on his neighbours and immediately found out there is a
serial killer on his road.
