1. Module 1: Discussion
Each project consists of primary and secondary roles that an analyst may assume that vary based upon
project characteristics. Analyze one primary or secondary role you have held on a project and share your
views of how your role impacted the project.
Within my experience I don't think I have had much experience with an analyst role. However there was
a time within my career where I developed an employee appreciation/recognition program. About two
years ago my company made a change with our recognition for our employees. Every month I would
award my employees with the highest numbers per metric with an award stating that. This award was
attached to their name through the system. I created this because it helped my employees get
recognized for their achievements and was a way to build their resume for future roles. Once the
program was ended and changed I felt like I need to figure out a way to still award my employees.
Especially because they greatly enjoyed knowing who was #1 for each metric every month.
So what I did was create my own recognition program layout. With this layout I created a back of house
board to display each month. This board held the #1 rep for each metric as well as their percentage and
was on display the entire month. This created fun competition for my entire staff. Even though I created
the back of house board I needed to find a way to be able to attach their recognition to their name in
our system. After working with others on my team we discovered another way to recognize our
employees for their achievements. Because I saw such a benefit with my team I presented my back of
house board and its benefits to my district. From there mt board and recognition was then present to
our district manager and is now a requirement pf employee recognition throughout our entire territory.
Blais (2012) defines business analysts as a form of change for a business and in my opinion indirectly my
project did form a change within the company. When employees know they are being recognized for
their hard work it helps increase sales and performance. As well as, like my store, friendly competition
which again increases sales and performance.
