A Forensic Anthropologist is important at recovery scenes to aid in locating remains through understanding soil composition and decomposition, mapping excavation sites by documenting find locations, excavating carefully while identifying bones, and collecting all remains, evidence, and samples. Issues can arise without an Anthropologist through missing bones, evidence, or context that makes identifying victims or causes of death difficult during later analysis.
