James asks a question that has divided churches and denominations, “What does it profit if someone says they have faith but does not have works?” What is your answer? Is faith without works of any value? Can works without faith bring salvation? Should someone believe they are a Christian simply because they "accepted Christ" or were baptized?

C. S. Lewis’ reaction to the Sermon on the Mount stated, “As to ‘caring for’ the Sermon on the Mount, if ‘caring for’ here means ‘liking’ or enjoying, I suppose no one ‘cares for’ it. Who can like being knocked flat on his face by a sledgehammer? I can hardly imagine a more deadly spiritual condition than that of a man who can read that passage with tranquil pleasure.” Certainly, in consideration of this beatitude and promise of persecution, this observation is profoundly true.
Gentleness (or meekness) means strength under control. Sadly, it is often mistaken for weakness. But both Moses and Jesus are described as gentle. We demonstrate meekness in our lives by learning, answering, restoring, correcting and living in meekness. (The last portion of this lesson is from Flesh and Spirit, by William Barclay.)

Goal-oriented Bible teaching, Attract people's attention and be able to meas...franktsao4
The teachings of the Bible that I have seen so far are either carefully analyzed according to the words of the Bible, or taught according to the chapters of the Bible, because this kind of teaching does not require too much time to prepare, and it will not cause too much controversy. Harmony can also be maintained in the classroom. However, this kind of teaching is difficult to attract the attention of the congregation. Some people fell asleep even in class, and few people asked questions, and the things taught were limited to a part of the Bible, and did not fully consider God’s grace, Purpose, temperament, and words.
I want to make a new attempt here, because this can attract more people to the church, and the church can also measure whether teaching can make God’s word closely related to everyone’s lives. Like relationship, to achieve God’s will can be done in the current society, resulting in the realization of the kingdom of heaven
Based upon Rick Warren’s excellent book, Bible Study Methods, this presentation offers a simple way of deepening your Bible study by examining a specific theme within Scripture.
The need for planning in Christian education. Failing to plan is like planning to fail. Why planning is very important is the key discussion of this lecture slides.
Living Life Discipleship Manual contains over 80 diagrams with “cheat sheets” explaining each diagram with an application section for the individual being discipled. Section titles are: Basics of Discipleship, Godship, Rejection, External/Internal, Problems, My Flesh, Repentance, Identity Matters, Accepting Your Righteousness, Extending Forgiveness, Seeking Forgiveness, Rest, Abide & Walk, and Love Life.
Making converts, gaining decisions, does not equal making disciples. It is essential we look at the right ideas, in the right way to make real disciples of King Jesus.
It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
Jesus expected a process of change, growth and development in the life of his followers. Many writers suggest a three or four stage process. A four stage process is outlined here, along with personal challenge / application.
Disciple-Making, according to Greg Ogden requires at least tow major factors: Internalisation and Multiplication. This presentation adds to his ideas with some scripture and illustrative ideas challenging followers of Christ to become, and make, disciples in his image.
Name someone...who has impacted your life.
Disiple-making is a deliberate act requiring discipline and dedication

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

18. •Purity-The passage
speaks not any person.
•Only use the passage of
scripture the group is
studying – no referring
to other passages,
sources, experiences, and
opinions!
19. •No person may impose
his or her thoughts on
others – Look at the
plain and simple
meaning.
20. •Anyone can challenge a
person for referring to
other passages—they use
one simple question,
“Where does it say that
in this passage of
scripture?”
21. •You can speak of a
passage the group
looked at in a previous
study.
22. •It’s important that every
person in the group
obeys the rules and the
way the study works.
23. •DBS is not the solution
to Christian education,
biblical illiteracy,
spiritual formation,
evangelism, missions,
etc.
25. Read the guidelines with the
group as you begin the first few
sessions.
1. Speak in sentences, not
paragraphs.
2. Look at what this passage is
saying, not on other passages.
26. 3. Focus only on what this
group is seeing.
4.Give people time to speak.
Silence is OK.
5. The leaders helps discussion,
they don’t teach.
29. 1.Keep the study time
moving and complete
all sections—you don’t
have to do all questions.
30. 2. Prepare before —
study the passage, look
for the main idea, think
of examples, stories or
application from your
own life.
31. 3. If there are questions
ask the group, “What in
the passage helps us
answer that question?”
4. For misleading
comments ask,“Where is
that found in this
passage?”
32. 5. With “strange” answers
ask, “Help us understand
what you are thinking.”
43. For example you might…
•Have each person read a verse
•Have one person read the whole passage
•Read it in every available translation; etc.
44. •Rewrite the passage in
your own words. Don’t
take this too literally: the
point is to talk through the
meaning of the text in any
way that works.
45. You might…
•Write down the most important point
•Summarise the passage
•Rewrite the whole in your own words
(sentence by sentence)
•Whatever you do make sure you
understand what the passage says!
46. Read & Retell
One person reads the new Bible passage out
loud, and the rest follow along.
Someone else retells the story and others fill
in what is missing.
47. Read & Look
Read the passage again.
Discuss what this
passage says about God,
Jesus, Holy Spirit or his
plan on Earth.
48. •This doesn’t have to
be something new—
it can be a reminder
of what we already
know.
57. •What will you do because
of this passage?
•Put this in “I will”
statements.
58. •What will you do because
of this passage?
•Put this in “I will”
statements.
•This disciples people for
obedience to the Word of
God.
•To start, use SPECK:
60. •S: Is there a Sin to avoid?
•P: Is there a Promise to claim or a
Prayer or Praise to offer?
•E: Is there an Example to follow?
•C: Is there a Command to obey?
•K: Is there Knowledge to learn?
61. •Who are you going to
share what you read
with? Be specific.
