Digital storytelling was developed in the early 1990s by writers, artists, and computer experts seeking to combine technology and storytelling. It grew slowly through workshops and festivals but is now used to help give voice to stories. Joe Lambert and Dana Atchley were pioneers in digital storytelling, with Atchley introducing the concept to Lambert. They continued developing it through their Center for Digital Storytelling. While adoption was gradual, digital storytelling has champions who see its potential to make an impact through personal and organizational storytelling.
