graphic design student!

3. My name is Nikki-Liz Francis and I’m 20 years young. Right now I’m
pursuing my diploma in Graphic Design at Saito University College.
I was born in Kuala Lumpurbut raised in the heart of Subang Jaya.
Art has always apart of me since childhood. I would occupy my time making gifts,
crafts and festive cards for my family. I just loved the idea of playing around
with colours and shapes to create something beautiful. As I got older, I started
doing illustrations and took part in school-based art competitions. It sparked
my artistic senses and my creativity developed. I really like digital illustration,
computer graphics, typography and e-publishing.

4. iNSPiRATiON
My parents are definately one of top my inspirations.
They’re living proof that anything is possible if you set your
mind to it and always persevere. However, in the art industry
I do take inspiration from Rihanna and Morgan Harper Nichols.
Rihanna’s always branching out her business in to different areas and I
admire her boldness to succeed. Morgan covey’s inspiring and motivational
messages through her art.
Besides loving art, I’m really into music.
Singing has always been a way of self expression.
I also write songs and play the guitar.
On the other hand, I love watching rom-coms
and horror flicks.

5. MY PASSiON
On of my dreams is to open up an art cafe for art/design students.
The purpose of this idea is to provide art facilities and computer programmes
whille having a food corner. This would be my way of giving back to the community.

7. DIGITAL ILLUSTRATiON
In this subject, I got to create custom
brushes that produce different strokes
using a tablet which is awsome! Now, I can
illustrate professionally on a digital canvas
such as portraits, concept art and character
design. I have never felt so thrilled about it!
I hope to pursue this particular field as a career.
This piece on the right is my first try
at digtal art.

10. TYPOGRAPHY
Through this particular sugject ,I have identified different fonts and typefaces
and how each font conveys a different message. Typography has always been
an interesting topic for me and I feel the need to experiment further.
Being able to expressemotions through different typefaces
is just brilliant. With this knowledge, I hope to create projects
like album cover art, design booklets and do posters in
the future.

11. I have created alphabets with
“plastic surgery” theme for an asignment.

quotes incorporating different font styles
as wellas adding some design elements.

12. I have learned to create a digital booklet about a typeface
specimen, applying the principles of typography, digital hierarchy of
fonts to arrange the placement, size, and the history behind
the typeface.

13. COMPUTER GRAPHIC DESIGN
With this
subject, I can
create art for magazine
covers, movie posters.
and even art for
digital books.
Here’s a few examples
of what I did. I would
love to do music album
art in future.

14. I have learned the fundamentals of
e-publishing and content planning.
This is topic is definately interesting
being able to electronically publish
web pages and digital catalogues.
I feel this subject will benefit the industry
since we are living in a digital age where
business is done electronically so creating
websites and digital content is what I'm
looking forward to doing in my career.

16. This is a life-size acrylic painting (a2 size).
was difificult adjusting to the arcyrlic but i
got thehang of it after several tries.
Definately on of the piece i had ever worked
on but it turned out quite nicely. I’m very
happy with the end
result.

This is my first ever life-size potrait. With my past
experience of colouring, was pretty excited to
get back to basics. It definately was a challege
since it was a huge piece. Overall , I had
great fun and pretty happy with how it turned out.
Would work on projects like this again in future : )
