                                           Design for Digital Experience’ 12
Experience Design

In the first one week of the course, we were asked to develop an understand-
ing of Experience. According to us, experience is the understanding or an
emotion that is developed as a result of sensory interactions with a product,
process, service, environment or an event.
The practice of designing products, processes, services, environments or
events providing a certain experience is Experience Design.

                                                              Design Brief

To design a digital companion for the year 2062. The device should be
designed making the appropriate assumptions for the techological advance-
ments 50 years later.
Assumptions

People would be enslaved by digital devices.
People may be deprived of emotional attachment with their famillies.
Requirement of a device that would store all the possible information about
the person.
More substitutes for entertainment.

                                                         Initial Concepts

1. A device that would persolize all the digital interfaces or environents
according to the user.

2. A device that would simulate the touch and feel of a near and dear one.

3. A device that understands the user’s behavioral patttern and suggests in
times of doubt.

4. Clone the human.
Concept

Kinchip!! A black box for a human!
A chip that will store all the data about the person from birth to death. It is a
wearable device, can be worn as a necklace or a bracelet. It can be projected
on any surface. It will work until the the user’s heart stops beating.
Features:
1. Medical :
It will record the user’s mood, pulse, blood pressure, sugar level, adrenaline,
etc. In case of an accident, chipsy will record all the changes in the body such
that a postmortem is not necessary.

2. Networking:
The chipsies of family members or friends can be connected so as to keep
in touch.

3. Past Experiences:
The user can go back and see any of his past experiences so as not to repeat
any previous mistakes.

4. Emotional Attachment:
The user can leave his chipsy to his dear one (decsendants) in his will so that
his grandchildren can see his entire life.
Scenario 1

Mr. Shekar is an old man who lives
with his family. His son and
daughter-in law earn for a living and
grandchildren go to school. He is
                                generally alone at home.

Mr. Shekar falls sick one day when he is alone
at home. He needs immediate attention for which
no body seems to be around.
Kin-chip to the rescue!!
It tells his son about his sickness and
the son is able to arrange for the
                                      doctor immediately.

                                                                  Scenario 2

A just born baby is lucky enough to have
a digital intervention that captures all his
events through his life.
As the baby grows up he can
                                             watch his past experiences.

His grandfather leaves his Kin-chip as a legacy for
him.
