This document discusses three case studies of effective digital activism campaigns. Case Study 1 profiles a Kickstarter campaign for a project called Esoteric Lore that engaged users through an opening reception video and easy-to-use Kickstarter tools. Case Study 2 examines Google's prominent recognition of International Women's Day in 2011 through an engaging video and interactive maps to find local events. Case Study 3 also involves International Women's Day and highlights how the campaign created interactive events on Google Maps and Picasa and provided compelling calls to action and links to organizations.

Wearable Ecologies - Insights From Intel Sponsored CoursePhilip van Allen
This stack is a compilation of projects and insights on wearables and their implications. It is based on an Intel sponsored studio taught by Philip van Allen, Ben Hooker, and Wendy March (of Intel) in the Art Center College of Design, Media Design Practices MFA program.
The project brief was to discover new approaches to wearable technologies rather than design a specific product. Out of these experimental and speculative projects by the students, Phil and Ben sought to distill insights that can inform future design work in the wearables area. These are in the second part of the stack, starting with a mapping of the ideas.
We were particularly interested in the three themes of the course: Transactions, Contextual Adaptability, and the Aesthetics of Behavior.

How to Prevent & Overcome Digital Extinction - Digital EvolutionAndrea Vascellari
5 practical tips on how to prevent and eventually overcome 5 of the most frequent causes of digital extinction that brands, organizations and at times also individuals are facing today.
Abstract: This presentation discusses multi-factor authentication, and what to look for if you are planning a product refresh, or implementing a solution for the first time. Since there are over 200 vendors, it is not easy to select the best solution for your needs. The goal of this presentation is to arm you with questions to ask, plus identify some suboptimal technologies to avoid. Your feedback to vendors will help them provide better, more secure products and services.

Presentation for #TFT12: Location and the Future of the Interface
In this presentation, Geoloqi founder Amber Case will highlight why developers of apps should look at what users want to do now, as well as what users want to do in the future, why social apps should try to mirror real-world relationships, why sharing should be about who you share with as well as how long you're sharing, and why developers should think about how to make apps "ambient" and require less user interaction.

RAILS Webinar on Innovative Technologies and Tech Trends
What are the current technology trends that everyone seems to be talking about? Join Brian Pichman of the Evolve Project as he leads us on a journey of technology and how you and your library can remain ahead as the world continues to innovate. Throughout this session, we will discuss various tech trends from home automation to robotics to wearables. Learn what “big data” and “data curation” are all about; discover gesture based computing, and what NFCs and RFIDs mean to us in the future. We will discussion how these technologies can impact libraries and which technologies we should embrace. At the end of this webinar; learn what is coming out in the future and also how you can stay informed of what’s up and coming. Presenter: Brian Pichman
To share services, mobile devices may need to locate reputable in-range providers and, to do so,
they may exchange ratings with each other. However, providers may well tweak ratings to their own advantage.
That is why we have designed a new decentralized mechanism (dubbed MobiRate) with which mobile devices
store ratings in (local) tamper-evident tables and check the integrity of those tables through a gossiping protocol.
We evaluate the extent to which MobiRate reduces the impact of tampered ratings and consequently locates
reputable service providers. We do so using real mobility and social network data. We also assess computational
and communication costs of MobiRate on mobile phones.
A talk I gave Sept 8, 2010 on major technology trends & their impact on the library user during my interview as a candidate for the position of Head of Digital User Experience at IU Bloomington Libraries.

Welcome to the Program Your Destiny course. In this course, we will be learning the technology of personal transformation, neuroassociative conditioning (NAC) as pioneered by Tony Robbins. NAC is used to deprogram negative neuroassociations that are causing approach avoidance and instead reprogram yourself with positive neuroassociations that lead to being approach automatic. In doing so, you change your destiny, moving towards unlocking the hypersocial self within, the true self free from fear and operating from a place of personal power and love.
