Navojoa is the fifth largest city in the state of Sonora, Mexico. It has a population of around 145,000 people and is part of the economically important Mayo Valley agricultural region. Although agriculture remains important, the economy has increasingly become dependent on industry and aquaculture like shrimp farming. Navojoa has several universities and is served by a freight railroad and highways connecting it to other cities in Mexico and the United States.
