The number of new crypto developers is growing for the first time since 2017, with over 1,200 new developers joining each month in 2020 and new monthly developers growing 15% since the start of 2020. While monthly active developers have remained flat, developers are consolidating into the top 200 ecosystems by network value, as developers outside the top 200 have decreased by 30%. There are areas of strong developer growth such as Bitcoin which has grown its monthly active developers by over 70% in the last 3 years and Ethereum which has grown by over 200%. Decentralized finance has also seen strong growth with its developers increasing by 67% since January 2020.
