2. Conformity and Deviance
Conformity is opposite to social deviance which implies obedience
to the norms that make a person acceptable in a particular society,
group, or social setting.
Deviance is a behavior that violates the standards of
conduct or expectations or social norms of a group or
society.
3. What is the difference of conformity and deviance?
A person conforms if he or
she chooses a course of action that
a majority favors or that is socially
acceptable.
In contrast, an individual
deviates if he or she chooses an
action that is not socially acceptable
or that a majority does not favor
4. What is an Example of Conformity?
Some common ways you might be
conforming include wearing certain
types of clothing to fit in with a group,
changing your political beliefs to
match those of your friends or family,
and going along with the crowd even
if you don't agree with what they're
doing.
5. What is an example of under conformity deviance?
Actions that break the law (e.g., assault, stealing,
speeding) or break other societal norms and policies
(e.g., cutting in line at the store, using employer
resources for personal benefit) are considered deviant
underconformity.
6. Anti- Social
Behavior
Antisocial behavior may be overt, involving aggressive
actions against siblings, peers, parents, teachers, or other
adults, such as verbal abuse, bullying and hitting; or
covert, involving aggressive actions against property,
such as theft, vandalism, and fire-setting.
7. Deviance
Is the recognized violation of cultural Norms. One
familiar type of Deviance is crime, the violation of the
norms formally enacted into criminal law.
Juvenile Delinquency- the violation of legal standard
that apply to the young.
Non-conformity—boastfulness, Violent political Protest
and Mental Illness.
