Management of Evolving Constraints in a Computerised Engineering Design Envir...Gihan Wikramanayake
1) The document discusses managing evolving constraints in engineering design. Constraints often change during the iterative design process due to changes in requirements, technology, costs, or performance goals.
2) It proposes a framework using Constraint Version Objects (CVOs) to independently capture changing constraints over time without modifying class definitions. Each CVO contains a set of constraints that versions of a design must satisfy.
3) The latest CVO created becomes the default CVO, and new versions are automatically validated against it. This allows different versions to adhere to different constraint sets over the evolution of the design process.

Techniques to Control Memory Hogging by Web Browsers: An in-Depth ReviewEditor IJCATR
The Web Browser is to date a popular piece of software in modern computing systems. They are the main interface for vast information access from the Internet. Browsers technologies have advanced to a stage where they do more than before. They now parse not only plaintext and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), but also images, videos and other intricate protocols. These advancements have increased demand for memory. This increased demand poses a challenge in multiprogramming environments. The contemporary browser reference model does not have a memory control mechanism that can limit maximum memory a browser can use. This leads to hogging of memory by contemporary browsers. This paper is a review on emergent techniques that have been used to control memory hogging by browsers based on the contemporary reference architecture. We review major browsers architectures including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Internet explorer. We give an in-depth study on techniques that have been adopted with a view to solve this problem. From these reviews we derive the weaknesses of the contemporary browser architecture and inefficiency of each technique used.

Websites are regarded as domains of limitless information which anyone and everyone can access. The
new trend of technology has shaped the way we do and manage our businesses. Today, advancements in
Internet technology has given rise to the proliferation of e-commerce websites. This, in turn made the
activities and lifestyles of marketers/vendors, retailers and consumers (collectively regarded as users in
this paper) easier as it provides convenient platforms to sale/order items through the internet.
Unfortunately, these desirable benefits are not without drawbacks as these platforms require that the users
spend a lot of time and efforts searching for best product deals, products updates and offers on ecommerce websites. Furthermore, they need to filter and compare search results by themselves which takes
a lot of time and there are chances of ambiguous results. In this paper, we applied web crawling and
scraping methods on an e-commerce website to obtain HTML data for identifying products updates based
on the current time. These HTML data are preprocessed to extract details of the products such as name,
price, post date and time, etc. to serve as useful information for users.

This paper focuses on the effects of web page components on web page load time and how they can be modified to reduce load time. Website speed measuring software tools (EValid and YSlow), online website monitoring tools and a mathematical model was used to make quantitative and qualitative analysis on web page load time in relationship to web page content. This research showed that university X’s website loads slowly within an average of 9.766 seconds and may even fail to load as indicated by its average downtime of 9.32%. For application performance across the internet to improve, the website load time must be on average 8 seconds which increases the image of the site hence the perceived quality of services or products offered and thus increasing stakeholders’ satisfaction. The findings of the study revealed that an increase in total size of web page content components is directly proportional to increase in response time and web page content components have different effects on web page load time. The evidence in this study shows that web page load time is mainly affected by its web page content characteristics. The study recommends web developers to measure web page response time against threshold values such as the 8 second rule during designing and implementation of a web page and adapt techniques identified which reduce load time.

This document summarizes a study on improving student learning through assessment using social media and e-Learning 2.0 on a distance education degree program in Sri Lanka. Specifically:
- The study examines the Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) program at the University of Colombo School of Computing, which has high failure and dropout rates.
- Currently exams focus on factual recall through multiple choice questions, encouraging rote learning. Language barriers also negatively impact some students' performance.
- The program aims to improve learning and reduce failure/dropout rates by designing new assessment methods using social media and e-Learning 2.0 to promote higher-order thinking. Data on student experiences will inform the redesign.

This paper proposes an approach for indexing multimedia clips by speaker using audio segmentation, speaker recognition, and metadata indexing. Segmentation is done using Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) and silence detection. Gaussian Mixture Models (GMMs) are trained for each speaker using Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) as features. An ensemble of 3 GMMs is used to reduce errors from stochastic GMM training. Indexing utilizes sampled MFCC features from segments as metadata linked to speaker models. The system achieves a 20% true miss rate and 10% false alarm rate on segments 15-25 seconds, with performance decreasing for shorter segments.

This document discusses how modern teaching methods focus on producing employable graduates through active learning. It provides the example of the University of Western Sydney, which identifies learning objectives before content to emphasize application skills. Their assessments evaluate continuous learning through practical work rather than only testing theoretical knowledge via exams. This process allows graduates to directly apply their skills in employment without additional training.

Euro 2024 Belgium's Rebirth the New Generation Match the Golden Era.docxEticketing.co
The Golden Group is over. Can a new group step up? Two years ago, Kevin De Bruyne plunged Belgium’s Euro 2024 plans into disorder when he claimed the team was “too old” to win in an interview with The Protector. That Belgian squad had 10 players over 30 and the maximum average age of any Euro Cup 2024 team at the competition. A group-stage exit and just one goal at the World Cup put Belgium on course for a restructure.

Coach Domenico Tedesco has managed a tactical shakeup and a regular exit for some of the oldest players. Experienced bests remain, not least the 37-year-old Jan Vertonghen in defense, the 32-year-old De Bruyne himself in midfield, and 31-year-old Romelu Lukaku up visible.
Still, younger actors like De Bruyne’s Manchester City partner Jeremy Doku bring fresh vitality to the team. Euro Cup Germany Qualifying unbeaten with just four goals allowed from eight games was a welcome sign of accomplishment back on track under Tedesco.
The only other squad in Group E besides Belgium to UEFA Euro 2024 qualify unbeaten, Romania was awestruck by winning a group that also checked Switzerland and Israel. Still, Euro 2024 will test a squad sorely lacking in top-level skill.

Development of a Web site with Dynamic Data
1. Development of a Web site with Dynamic Data

Department of Statistics and Computer Science
University of Colombo
Abstract
The World Wide Web is the most commonly used and possibly the largest information
system available at present. Most of the Web sites in the Internet use static Web pages to present
information with hyper links. There are several disadvantages in this procedure such as the
inability to cater for specific user needs and to update existing pages ensuring consistency of
information. A Web site with a database as the back-end for information storage provides a new
dimension, as maintaining consistency of the information and the production of dynamic Web
pages is possible through the database.
A Web site with dynamic data is developed for one-day international (ODI) cricket data.
The information processing involve data management, retrieval, producing dynamic reports and
answering potential user requests. Output of the system includes the ability to present user requests
as Web pages and on-line updates of information.
A Web site for ODI cricket information which stores the data available in an ODI score
card and other related information in its central database is constructed with a Relational Database
Management System. All the frequently asked questions regarding ODI cricket is answered using
the database with relevant processing. User Interface with options for different categories of
interest is provided to the users. Up-to-date statistical information for user requests is presented as
dynamic Web pages. This information is useful to anybody who wants either to study strengths and
weaknesses of players and teams.
