Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

Ønsket destination: Cuba
Rejseønsker:
Faren Thomas, som er 42 år, ønsker en kulturel oplevelse i landet, med besøg på museer der gerne
omhandler landets borgerkrig, da han selv interesserer sig meget for historiske krige.
Han har selv taget et spansk kursus, for at han kan komme ud og møde de lokale i byen Havana. Han vil
gerne se byen, så han har valgt, at de skal tage, ”Havana hop on hop off bus”, hvilket der er det hele værd,
da man kommer rundt i meget af Havana og omegn.
Derudover ønsker han også at komme ud og se en Baseball kamp med sin 13 årige søn Joakim. Da Thomas
var på Joakims alder, tog hans far ham med til en baseball kamp, og han kan stadig huske, hvor god en
oplevelse det var. Så han ønsker at gøre det samme med sin søn.
Sønnen Joakim på 13 år, ønsker at komme ind og se Havanas
Football og Baseball Stadion ”Latinoamerican Stadium”. Han
elsker selv alle former for sport, og går bl.a. til fodbold 2 gange
om ugen, og elsker fællesskabet omkring det.
Derudover har han haft en drøm om, at svømme med delfiner og
bade på flere af landets strande, da han selv godt kan lide at
svømme, eftersom at han har gået til svømning i mange år.
Formålet med rejsen er, at få en hyggelig far og søn tur, og få
mange gode minder med hjem. Det er første gang, at de rejser
sammen alene uden Thomas’ kone og deres anden søn. De tror
og håber på, at det bliver en spændende men også en
afslappende rejse.
De regner med at købe et godt hotel med pool, restaurant og
internet.

Rejseform
Vi har valgt at deres rejseform er en blanding af Charterrejse og Aktivrejse. De har forskellige
ønsker om hvad der skal ske på rejsen. Joakim ønsker at se Cubas Baseball hold, og han drømmer
om, at svømme med delfiner. Derudover vil han gerne slappe af på en god strand. Thomas vil
gerne have en kulturel oplevelse af landet, og han vil meget gerne se en baseball kamp med sin
søn.
Ud fra deres ønsker er det derfor ikke muligt at vælge en enkelt rejseform. Vi tænkte at en
blanding af Charterrejse og Aktivrejse ville passe godt i denne situation
De har hele 40.000 kr. pr. person, så der er rigeligt med penge til deres rejse. Når de har så mange
penge, behøver de ikke at leje nogle små værelser rundt omkring, i stedet kan de booke et
hotelværelse. Så behøver de ikke, at bekymre sig om, at finde et nyt sted.
Vi har lejet en bil til dem, som de kan bruge ligeså meget som de vil. Det gør dem mere frie, så
behøver de heller ikke bruge tid og penge på taxa og bus.

Museum of The Revolution
Museet indeholder en flotudstilling, derdækker fra
starten af den cubanskenationfrem tilvores dage. I
den udstilling findes der f.eks.:History
ofCuba,arkæologi, våben, malerier og skulpturer.
Før museet var bygningen hovedkvarteret for den
cubanske regering i 40 år.
Acuario Nacional de Cuba
Acuario Nacional er et sted, hvor du kan komme hen og se
forskellige dyr der lever i vandet. Du kan se delefin- og
søløveshow.
Havana hop on hop off bus
Busturen er det hele værd, da du kommer rundt I meget af
Havana og omegn.
Der er mere end 60 stop og tre interessante ruter.
Playas Del Este
Der er mange muligheder på Playas Del Este. Du kan slikke
sol på den lækreste strand, bade i krystal klart vand, gå ture
i det fineste sand og ligge i skygge under de flotteste
palmer.

Tag til Club de Golf, hvis du vil spille golf i smukke
omgivelser. Banen indeholder hele 18 huller, men der er
også mulighed for spil på 9 huller. Banen ligger bare 20 km
fra lufthavnen.
Museo Del Chocolate
Museo Del Chocolata, er annonceret som et museum, men
en stor del af stedet er indrettet som cafe.
Museet viser historien om kakao produktionen, og
markedsføringen af chokolade.

Cubas klima
Cuba er den største og folkerigeste ø i Caribien. I takt med at landet har åbnet sig mere op overfor
omverdenen, har stadigt flere danskere fået øjnene op for dette turistparadis.
Cubas vejr er præget af landets beliggenhed i den Mexicanske Golf relativt tæt ved ækvator. Klimaet er
varmt og tropisk med en våd og en tør sæson.
Den våde periode, også kaldet regntiden, er varm og fugtig. Den begynder i maj og varer hele juni, juli,
august, september og langt ind i oktober.
Den tørre periode begynder i november og strækker sig over december, januar, februar, marts og april
måned. Her er vejret generelt lidt køligere og mindre lummert.
Det er som regel varmere i den østlige del af landet end i den vestlige. Men på grund af den stadige brise
fra de østlige passatvinde føles vejret dog sjældent ubehageligt varmt -selv når temperaturerne er høje.
Ved strandene langs kysten og på de mange ferieøer er der en vandtemperatur på over 25 grader hele året.

Så hvis du elsker varme og sol, men godt kan holde til lidt regn, så forslår vi at du rejser til Cuba i juli måned.
Juli er nemlig én af de varmeste måneder om året, men det er desværre også i den måned, at der er flest
nedbørsdage. Så hvis man ønsker, at det ikke skal regne særlig meget, men at det stadig skal forblive
rimelig varmt, er den bedste ide at tage af sted i april måned.

Den cubanske kultur
Cuba og landets befolkning
Cubas officielle navn er República de Cuba, og landets
officielle sprog er Spansk. Landet har en befolkning på ca.
11,2 mio. mennesker, og hovedparten af befolkningen er
katolikker (ca. 40% af befolkningen). Derudover er der
andre mindretalsreligioner, f.eks. ateister, protestanter og
div. afrikanske religioner.
Ifølge den cubanske ambassade i Danmark, er det cubanske
folk b.la. et gæstfrit, sympatisk, humoristisk og gavmildt
folk. Ud af Cubas befolkning på ca. 11,2 mio. mennesker, er
65% hvide og resten er sorte og mulatter.
Cubas samfund og styreform
Cuba er en kommunistisk republik. Siden 1956 har Fidel
Castro været præsident, men måtte træde af i 2006 på
grund af sygdom. Siden 2008 har hans bror Raúl Castro
været præsident. Det cubanske parlament hedder
Asamblea Nacional del Poder Popular. Det kommunistiske
parti er det eneste tilladte i landet.
Cuba har et velfærdssystem, som på nogle måder kan ligne
Danmarks. Når du betaler skat på Cuba dækker det b.la.
sygdom, ulykkesordninger og barselsorlov. På Cuba er
Grundskolen obligatorisk, og derefter er al uddannelse
gratis. Cuba har en velfungerende sundhedssektor, der
oven i købet er gratis. Man har god adgang til læger, men
før i tiden var det svært at skaffe medicin, men i dag er det
blevet nemmere, da de er i gang med at udvikle deres
medicin selv.
