Hunt for
strengths
People show up at their best when
their strengths are acknowledged
and activated.
TRY THIS
Get to know the unique skills and experiences
that each person brings to the table (hint:
it’s more than their job title). One way to
do this is to have each person do one of the
many strength-finding assessments (e.g.,
Superpowers by SYPartners, Strengthsfinder)
and then share what they learned about
themselves with the team.

Practice
gratitude
Expressing gratitude is not simply a
way to acknowledge someone else. It can
also increase happiness in work and in
life—and increase someone’s likelihood of
repeating the helpful behavior.
TRY THIS
At the start or end of team meetings,
ask each person to acknowledge
gratitude for what another team
member did in the past week.

Set others up
to shine
When people join a new team or step into
a new role, it’s important to help them
and others recognize where they can
apply what they know and where they
can build new levels of mastery.
TRY THIS
When someone new joins your team
or project, meet with them to
understand where they feel confident
jumping right in, where they need
a model or coach to help develop
their skills, and where they are most
energized to grow. Be clear about your
role in supporting them.
RECOGNIZING STRENGTHS See and recognize the strengths in one another
When people connect their personal
purpose with the work at hand, they can
activate their deepest passions to achieve
something amazing.
TRY THIS
Ask each person on your team to write
a personal purpose statement that
expresses who they are at their best,
who they want to serve, and what
impact they want to have in the world.
At your weekly team meeting, ask each
person to share their purpose and how
they can bring it to life through the
team and the work that week.

personal
purpose
