Times have changed, and although Java ME still has market share, it is not available on all devices anymore. Java/Java ME developers had no problem moving to BlackBerry or Android but faced challenges on iOS. HTML5 plus PhoneGap apps promised a silver bullet for a “write once, run on all devices” approach via several frameworks, which, in the end, offered painful JavaScript and CSS development. Although GWT offers a great Java-to-JavaScript compiler and debugger, mgwt introduces native-looking widgets on iOS, Android, and even BlackBerry. Also, with the addition of GWT/PhoneGap projects, you can now code native-looking HTML apps that can use native APIs with regular, type-safe, well-known beautiful Java without coding a single line of HTML plus JavaScript. Game development using HTML5 technologies presentation, May 2010. This lecture was given by Gil Megidish at AlphaGeeks #6 meetup in Tel Aviv, Israel. The talk begins with some review of the game graphics techniques, and how you can achieve these with today's browsers and client side code. 4 demos were presented: sprites with canvas (luigi), framebuffer access (apple2 emulator), primitives and polygons (another world js) and image modifiers (droste effect.) En el mundillo web siempre hemos visto la comunicación síncrona como asignatura pendiente, hasta ahora las alternativas eran muy complejas, hasta la aparición de los websockets. Seguramente todos hemos alucinado con la creación de nuestro primer chat y nos hemos emocionado con sus posibilidades. Nuestra propuesta es jugar con el chat hasta convertirlo en un juego matazombies, demostrando el potencial del mix Javascript, websockets con NodeJS, y terminar con un debate sobre las posibilidades de futuro. Contenido de la charla: - Tras una breve introducción de las tecnologías que vamos a utilizar. partiremos de una aplicación básica de chat, que iremos modificando hasta convertirla en un juego interactivo. - Buenas prácticas y lecciones aprendidas, desde el despliegue en dispositivos móviles, la gestión de participantes, hasta la sincronización y rendimiento del interfaz. - Visualización de algunas demos y ejemplos. - Analizaremos las nuevas oportunidades en el mercado del Gaming, donde el rendimiento ya no es un problema con aceleradores de JS como CocoonJS o Famo.us, o la escalabilidad de los servicios de Websockets. Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management. The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
