Depression is a mood disorder that can cause someone to feel
sad, irritable or hopeless. It may affect your sleep, appetite or
relationships with others. Depression can also cause you to
lose interest in hobbies or activities you once enjoyed. It lasts
two weeks or longer. It should only get evaluated, diagnosed
and treated by a healthcare provider. Although depression is a
serious medical condition, it’s usually treatable. ( Cleveland
Clinic, 2020)

psychotherapy (counseling) and medication.”
Managing Symptoms
Being healthy is important for all children and can be especially important for children with
depression or anxiety. In addition to getting the right treatment, leading a healthy lifestyle
can play a role in managing symptoms of depression or anxiety. Here are some healthy
behaviors that may help:
• healthy eating plan
• physical activity
• recommended amount of sleep each night based on age
• Practicing mindfulness or relaxation techniques

When we think negatively, we are likely to carry on thinking
negatively, which makes the thought more intense and stronger.
Negative thoughts may increase the chance of having
depression. Positive thinking is the key to peaceful and happy
living 😊
