1. Delta Zeta Epsilon Nu
Delta Zeta Epsilon Nu is being a part of an incredible network of women who value the
same ideals. It means being a part of a community for life, not only in your own sorority, but in
other sororities, fraternities, and other campus organizations. You will feel connected to your
school and participate in lots of great events including philanthropy competitions,
homecoming, semi-formals, community service, study groups, campus organizations, and most
importantly sisterhood events and retreats. Meeting alumni that may work in a field that is
your best interest area allows you that extra step/push that others might not have. Opening
new doors for you in the future with internship opportunities, job interviews, or even just the
often overlooked advice to guide you in the right direction.
You grow as a person and learn incredible social and leadership skills. The women in
sororities are so diverse; you experience working with people of all personalities. Delta Zeta
Epsilon Nu has taught me new leadership skills associating with people sharing the same values
and interests as me. Getting involved on campus makes your college experience more
rewarding. Sororities give you the opportunity to exhibit and grow your skill set. From painting
banners to display in front of your sorority house, designing T-shirts, joining a chair position, or
supporting our two philanthropies. Being a part of Delta Zeta Epsilon Nu provides you the
opportunity to give back to the community and make a difference in someone’s life. In the fall
semester, Delta Zeta hosts an event where different fraternities and sororities sponsor a
contestant and he participates in our pageant. The contestants do a talent round, DZ spirit
round, and a questionnaire round using facts about our national/local chapter history. All the
proceeds go to our National philanthropy for speech and hearing, which is both the Starkey
Hearing Foundation and Gallaudet University. In the spring semester, Delta Zeta hosts an event
where fraternity and sorority life all get together in our backyard to participate in a tug of war
competition. We create a bracket with different teams and each team dresses to their team
name. The proceeds from this event go to the Painted Turtle Camp and Missouri State
University's Department of Communication and Science Disorders. I've learned so many
different life lessons from time to time, and can see life in so many new perspectives. From
getting first place as a chapter in community service, to donating blood and saving someone’s
life; it’s opened my eyes to see the world in new perspectives I didn’t see before. I feel an
indescribable bond of sisterhood immediately with each and every one of my sorority sisters.
The rituals you experience, symbolism, and the comfort of welcoming new sisters each year is
an unconditional bond; that will never be broken.
