Humayun's tomb was commissioned by his wife Bega Begum in 1565 AD, nine years after his death, as the first of the grand dynastic Mughal tombs. It was completed in 1572 AD under the patronage of their son, Emperor Akbar. The splendid mausoleum located in Nizamuddin, Delhi stands as a magnificent testament to Mughal architectural styles and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993.
