Meta Jersey is a journalism tool that visualizes demographic data on an interactive heat map to help users understand the causes of population shifts in New Jersey. The heat map allows users to select different data layers to tell stories from the visualized information. It is intended to aid journalists in determining what is causing changes to New Jersey's census by showing reasons for residents leaving each area and levels of immigration across the state. The tool was created by Team Deep Purple consisting of five members.

5. ● New Jersey is going through a lot of demographic
changes. Many of the people who have been in New
Jersey for many years have been leaving. A big part of
the population that has been here for many years has
been retiring or leaving New Jersey. There are many
reasons people might leave. Some are leaving for lower
taxes, better jobs, lower prices, or warmer weather.
● There are also many more immigrants that have been
coming to New Jersey which have replaced the people
who have left.
● We created a map that shows why people leave each
section of New Jersey and which parts of New Jersey
have the most immigrants. The map is interactive to
allow people to look through the data on the map.
