ACEEE Intelligent Efficiency 2016 - Jeff PerkinsAmanda Gasse
This document discusses opportunities for integrating utility goals around metering infrastructure and demand-side management. It notes that Massachusetts ranks highly for energy efficiency but has increased its reliance on natural gas. There may be opportunities for combined heat and power and gas demand response through improved information sharing about energy consumption. One approach discussed is using gas bills as a proxy to identify locations suitable for combined heat and power generation. Integrating gas demand response with existing electric demand response could also help utilities better manage loads. New metering and third-party data infrastructure may support these opportunities.
