Tanzania has a population of over 39 million people comprised of 120 Bantu groups. Dodoma is the capital city and Dar es Salaam is the most populated city, home to over 2.4 million residents in 2005. Tanzania is home to many iconic African animals including lions, hippos, gazelles, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes, hyenas and rhinos. The Masai people are a semi-nomadic group located in northern Tanzania known for their traditional dances. The Serengeti National Park is an important animal reserve where many species can be found. While there are 127 languages spoken, Swahili is the national language.
