This document outlines an introductory course on database concepts and management for library and information science professionals. The course will cover database fundamentals, relational database design, SQL, MySQL, WINISIS, emerging trends, and hands-on experiences with database technologies. Over 12 weeks students will learn about database concepts, models, design, implementation, querying, indexing, and management. The goal is for students to understand databases in libraries and be able to develop and use databases like WINISIS and MySQL in a library environment.
