The document compares dandruff scales to normal corneocytes. It finds that dandruff scales contain nucleated cells while normal corneocytes contain non-nucleated cells. Samples were stained with hematoxylin and eosin and viewed under a microscope. Testing found that dandruff scales contain less glycine and similar amounts of water-soluble protein compared to normal corneocytes. Dandruff scales and corneocytes were tape stripped and extracted with water for amino acid and protein content measurements.
